Blood Seas

With the rescue of the Mistral by the Skylord and the accord struck with Air by Ashtan, one of the four great conduits of the Elemental Planes was at last quelled. Yet three still remained: the Northern Giant, Bataoac, the Flame of the World, Jeramun, and the Sorceress of the Seas. It was to this last that the soldiers of Mhaldor turned their own attention.
At the direction of Alrena Lichlord, Warden of her Master's Isle, the men and women of the West disdained their chance to show good faith with the embassy of the Elements, instead seeking a far more insidious goal: to bring the great conduit of Water beneath the will of the Malevolent One Himself. For several months did they embark on this quest, slaying great monsters upon the blood seas and even bringing a legendary leviathan to destruction in constructing an amphora of their own, upon which the collective might of their city would be focused.
When at last the moment arrived, it was Aegoth Aristata who took upon himself the mantle of an Avatar, living embodiment to the Lord of Evil's purpose. In sacrifice of his heart and the Divine essence with which he was infused, the amphora was at last empowered, pulsing like a bloodied heart. Over the successive months did Mhaldor then slaughter wholesale armies of elementals upon the boughs of the World Tree and upon the battlefields of the Dardanic Grasslands, filling their vessel of malignant purpose to its capacity. And when they thus acted, for the briefest of moments did the Sorceress of the Seas bend, oceans stilling as the red fog began to seep into it, replacing its essence with sanguine corruption.
And then did Water respond.
Enraged beyond measure at the treachery shown by the inhabitants of Achaea, the Emissary of Water, Asahana, howled her fury across Yggdrasil as all the waters of Creation revolted against the gross assault upon their substance. Empowered with the rage and anger of Sllshya, the ambassador flowed forth from the embassy in an azure tide of oceanic wrath, eyes firmly set upon the Prime and the inhabitants that had so disgraced themselves and their plane of existence.
Her passage unstoppable, the Emissary broke past the gates of Baelgrim without pause, obliterating those who dared stand in her path. Bestowing her judgement upon the Prime Material, labelling its inhabitants faithless and accursed, she brought down her gauntleted fist upon the malevolent vessel, shattering it in a single strike as Sllshya's will was made manifest, all standing within the Prime momentarily granted the faintest glimpse of the Elemental Pillar's totality.
Withdrawing the corrupted sphere from the broken amphora, Asahana enacted Sllshya's judgement upon the Sorceress, restoring her to the Fluid One's grace and ending the blood seas. Departing, the Emissary returned to her embassy, disgusted with the treachery of the Prime Material and declaring none would be forgiven the events of that day.
And in her wake did the evidence remain, the touch of demons now upon the waters surrounding His Isle: an eternal crimson tide, poisoning the oceans of Achaea as the roars of behemothic creatures from the lightless depths echoed across the bloody froth of the waves.

Summary: The citizens of Mhaldor, acting in accord with the tenets of Evil, sought not to show faith with the Elements but instead to bind Water to their Lord's will. Enraged at this base act of treachery, Asahana manifested personally upon the Prime Material Plane, imbued with the wrath of Sllshya, the Fluid One. Though the corrupted vessel was shattered, the marks of the Baelgrim ritual remained, poisoning the waters around the western isle with the essence of Sartan.
