On the 22nd of Aeguary, 417, Cypra Lichlord was hunting in the Dun
Valley swamps and came upon a bizarre creature with an appearance of
something between a warthog and a spider. She slew it with some
difficulty and, slinging it over her shoulder, sludged back through the
mud over the Vashnar Mountains and back to her home city of Mhaldor.

Curious about this strange creature, the likes of which she had never
seen before, Cypra gathered to her a small group to investigate its
origins: Talkaze, Zhan, and Niluvian. They journeyed across the
continent in their search, beginning first with the mad scientist
Jirken, then the wise woman Tyrandiel and the Dun scholar Numenesse.
Following Numenesse's advice, they finally sought out the help of Haag,
the Swamp Witch in the bogs south of Ashtan, who slyly revealed the
existence of a twin sister hidden in the swamps within the Dun Valley.

Cypra swiftly returned to the Dun Valley, and her fellow adventurers
spread out in search of the hidden swamps. Talkaze was the first to find
and pull the hidden vines that admitted entrance deeper into the swamps,
where more of the strange creatures Cypra had originally killed could be
found, as well as the powerful sister of Haag: Kloreme, Witch of the
Southern Swamps.
