The sound of cracking ice emanating from the northern polar region of
Sapience rallied a group of adventurers intent upon investigating its
portents. The first to arrive at the source was Delphinus, followed
quickly by Landon and Ainia, travelling farther north than any
cartographer in the modern age could claim to have travelled. Along a
frigid, mountainous coast in the far northwestern reaches of the
wilderness, they came upon a man named Herik. He informed them, and
others who had by then arrived, that a shifting of the ice-shelf off the
coast had closed off his way home.
After various and unsuccessful attempts of blasting through the thick
ice, Herik remembered a way to generate enough heat. Adventurers
scattered to bring him the materials he needed. Landon supplied him with
amorak corpses, Delphinus retrieved a fireplant from Nuskuwe, and
Raeynna and Grignor convinced the Shaman of Kamleikan to brew a special
fire potion. These items were assembled upon the ice, and Herik
attempted to ignite the pile. Finally, with Landon and Delphinus
summoning the fire of the wyvern morph, Ainia's firelash, and Ixin's
tinderbox and matches, the amorak corpses were ignited, causing a fiery
explosion that revealed the exit in to the half-submerged city of Isaia,
Herik's home.
