Kinilan,
I can see I touched a nerve in the remnants of a once functional mind. Just as all the realms can see that your blind hatred for those such as Sir Aerek leave you constrained to your cabin, vehemently spewing curses and scribbling nonsense by candlelight.
This facade you have constructed of the lone wolf poorly hides your anger at not being accepted in society, evident with every outburst. Your attempt to slander my name is as well orchestrated as anything you do these days, and despite my better judgemnet, I will indulge you in one final response before I leave you to wallow in self pity.
I left the Pirates of Meropis, many years ago, because it simply lost sight of what that life was largely about. It went from being about adventure and glory, to gold and gluttony. You claim I hid and traded in my integrity for crowns and credits. As I look around me, I can scant see where they are or what they might have been spent on. When I left the Pirates, I made the decision to make ammends for many of the transgresions I commited in the past. Part of that was joining Cyrene and working to lead its navy against such people. A strange way to hide.
You can blame me for being everything you detest in Knighthood. You can say you don't think that someone like me has any right to call themselves a knight or leader. All of that is well and fine, because the truth of the matter is I looked upon my past, made ammends with it, and choose my path forward. I went through my trials and tribulations and came out the better for it. I did not sit and stew and make excuses for my shortcomings, thinking myself grander than all those around me.
I am disappointed to see someone I once considered a friend fall to such a state. I will not, however, apologise or feel any guilt for accomplishing something you once denied me, and subsequently squandered. So you can lash out all you wish, at me, Ser Aerek, or anyone else who shows a brief lapse in judgement and responds to any of your madness, but it changes nothing.
So while you speak of integrity and honour I am content to let the realms look upon your example and draw their own conclusions.
Regards,
- Sir Kresslack Matrose
