Ashtan

Ashtan has refused the strengthening, helping hands of Myself and Sartan. Contrary to the opinions of many Achaeans, Sartan and I want Ashtan to be strong. If this strength can not be achieved from within, it will come from without. The once great city state of Ashtan, that crushed any obstacle that came in its path, has grown complacent. Ashtan is fat, lazy and apathetic. If Sartan and I took our Orders out of the city, you would have less of an army than the Oakstone. Pathetic. We are not going to hold you up any longer. If you have any heart left, this last experience will anger you, harden you, and make you stronger. If not, you will crumble and become a memory.

To My Order which is largely consisting of Ashtanites: I will continue to meet your personal needs as I always have. My Order has always been fiercely loyal. Those who wavered in their faith have fallen away. I have not, nor will I leave you.

To the guilds I Patron: As long as I continue to Patron you, I will continue to meet the needs of the guild as a Patron should. I clearly separate the needs of the guilds from the weakness of the city and the reluctance of the government to embrace good fortune when it stands in the door.

To Ashtan the city: You have chosen Vastar to Patron the city. I am sure He will be most helpful in putting out the raging fires, cleaning the debris, and rebuilding your bleeding city. I will not stand in His way. Enjoy your newfound freedom.

--Aegis, God of War--

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Daedalan, in the year 273 AF.
