A woman can spend her entire life fighting for her Goddess and her city, and never really understand quite why bullshit makes the flowers grow. The Priestly father who spends his days preaching to the masses, cooking dinner for his wife, reading books to his children, all the while trying to make believe that he's becoming holier by aiding the noble causes and educating the ignorant is no more a fool than the Occultist who thinks her words will have no effect on a desperate world - a world desperate for real "truth" and meaning.
Israfel says, "We live in a state of perpetual confusion." How grand! I cannot imagine what it would be like to live in a state of perpetual understanding. How bland! Confusion and Understanding walk hand in hand, you will never have one without the other. Although Confusion is definitely the larger of the two, guiding Understanding around like a small child. If you want to understand, embrace confusion. Maybe he'll let you baby-sit his child for awhile.
Israfel also tells us that spiritual emptiness comes from wanting to be left alone. (If you refer to the second half of my first sentence in this post, you may realize that Israfel could open his own flower shop, and make quite a bundle.) Real spiritual emptiness stems from closed-mindedness. It is easiest for me to say "Become a member of the Discordian Society, and you will find Chaos!" but I won't insult everyone's intelligence by pointing out the obvious.
The most I could ever offer as a member of the Discordian Society is knowledge, amusement, friendship, enlightenment, laughter, Chaos, order, thoughts, responsibility, irresponsibility, foolishness, some bullshit (complete with flowers), comprehensive discussion, spiritual satisfaction and fulfillment (for whatever those are worth to you), a bit of alcohol, and numerous other things. I am speaking to those who are tired of watching the Church fertilize their petunias. (See part two of sentence one again.) To those who wish to learn from me, I offer my own open invitation for conversation and debate to those who wish to discuss the nature and spirit of holy Chaos.
Don't step on the flowers,
Lemon
