A note on jousting

Hail.

Old age has yielded unto me a belief that mouth-breathers need no response. That said, as one of the handful who take great pride and delight in keeping alive the traditions of the tiltyard, there is a point worth qualifying.

Kinilan is correct in his assessment of training lances; they provide an undue advantage, which tends to be the basis upon which they are usually banned for tournament use - that, or given out freely to all.

Kinilan is misguided, it seems, in the rest of his assessments on the joust; given that tournaments hosted by the guild have dispensed with many hundreds of credits in prizes, it certainly seems a decent way for the aspiring adventurer to earn a fortune and a name for themselves upon the world stage.

But, such is life. Should any wish to hone their skills with a lance or simply prove their strength on the tiltyard, I would heartily recommend seeking out the likes of Sir Kresslack, Dame Perl, or any number of qualified lancers whose experience is not viewed solely through a lens of bitterness.

Laiq tsuura,

Sir Aodfionn Wintermourne

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Ero, in the year 958 AF.
