The Guild of Knights

There has always been need for souls of higher caliber.

As distant as the heroic acts of Travian Shea at the gates of Ashtan, and the brave sacrifices of Lord Raeman, Sir Francis, and Sir Martio before the walls of Seleucar, Sapient history is filled with tales of men and women who embraced their duty until there was no distinction between flesh and ideal, whose word and will were as strong as their steel. At the height of the Empire, twelve noble warriors forged a Code of Chivalry that founded the Seleucarian Guild of Knights. Soldiers of valour took oaths to serve with the whole of their being, to embody the virtues of their state, and become paragons skilled in all matters martial, civil, and courtly.

The Castle of Twelve fell with the Empire, but its tradition was carried on by the three Inheritor Guilds: the Templar, the Maldaathi, the Runewardens, and their successor Houses. Bound by Seleucarian Honour, they embodied their respective nations and knew each other as equals, even if they be enemies on the battlefield. The titles of Knighthood transcended nations, respected by countrymen and foes alike, a mark of integrity and unfailing loyalty to their cause.

But the years have not been kind to Knighthood. The Renaissance saw the Inheritors dissolved and our nations looked to other priorities. Our numbers dwindled, and has the world not seen the result? The loyalties of great warriors shift with the winds, every dialogue between nations devolves into insult and invective, and etiquette upon the battlefield has been discarded in view that Honour is obsolete.

Now ends the winter of our discontent.

The Guild of Knights is refounded, the Regency of Aster Malik its host, and the ancient arts of the Eternal Capital will again be taught to those who uphold the ancient Code of Chivlary. We offer the sanction of Knights to any nation that permits their own to observe our Code. The Guild passes no judgement on cause nor creed, but ensures that Knights of all orders keep their Honour unstained. Send to us your finest, your valiant and valorous, and we will forge you paragons to carry your banners to their dying breath.

To the valiant and valorous, we call you to the Code. Place yourself upon our forge and emerge steeled and stainless. With Honour as our armour, none may wound us. With a civil mind and a savage heart, we carry our causes from the court to the battlefront and beyond. But know that the vows of a Knight are not trappings to be donned and doffed when convenient, and a Knight in shining armour never had their mettle tested.

Emissaries and inquiries may be directed to the Knight Arbiter, Dame Mayapple Xanatov, or myself.

Ser Aerek Ancyrion
