On the Nature of Endings and Grief

Brothers and Sisters of Mortality's chains,

There are few things I hate more than liars and propagandists. Given that we have now been inundated with both, I find it necessary to help set the record straight. Let it be known that I do not speak with any affiliation and my stance does not represent that of the Home settlement of which I am not a member, despite popular beliefs to the contrary.

Beginning with the Dawnlord let us discuss what the "new" Dawn that he seeks truly is: Stagnation and Rot. The "taint" of which he speaks is attributed to Ashtan and the forces of Chaos. But I ask you this, how did the so called "defenders of creation" end up hosting an alien taint which undoes the very weave the Logos once wrought? Targossas has, at its core, already become a vessel of rot, and what Ashtan has done is stripped the thin veneer away to show the cancerous growth at the heart of the Bloodsworn's failed state. Atalkez seeks the rest of sapience to help reinstate the masquerade of a thriving creation which shall endure eternally.

Moving on to those very forces of chaos who claim to seek ruin and an ending to creation. You're right, all things do break, decay, disintegrate, and most importantly, end. But what you seek is a finality which is both inevitable and impossible. This era of decay will end, all that mortality and Divinity wrought will crumble. At the very moment of your victory you shall attain an instant of oblivion which shall stretch for eternity. Then that too will end, the cycle of creation beginning once more. While your efforts to accelerate the process are appreciated I cannot help but question why you would pour so much energy into something so ephemeral.

To those who claim that their Ascension is ever encroaching, that Chaos is a necessity to creation and to Change. I cannot dispute that The Logos brought into existence the realms of Creation and Chaos, but I do question just what it is that you believe you will accomplish by having the two meld. Creation and Chaos cannot exist without one another, but as we can see from the ruination you impose upon your bodies and your surroundings they also cannot coexist in the same place. Chaos undoes the weave, and in the process annihilates itself. Those of you who believe that Chaos brings about a kind of salvation and ascendancy for those who embrace it are nothing more than the puppets of the Chaos Lords who foolishly seek domination, and consequently, their own demise. Penwize you speak of the Mythos and of history, I ask you how did the earliest occultists, the first puppets of Chaos fair? You have made youselves tools of their whims in the hopes that they will let you be one of them. This brings you lower than the slaves of Mhaldor, for they know that they are tools and the only dominion that they work for is that of the Malevolent One.

To those who would claim others to be worms whilst wriggling in the filth of their own decay. I would suggest that you not forget with whom you have aligned yourself historically. The Winter which the Earthmother seeks to bring forth will not be kind to the weak of body, nor of conviction. I have hope that the Village might learn to stand without the pillars of stone and steel which it has found itself allied with time and time again.

To those who cling to their Master, His Strength is not yours and hiding behind your walls while Nature reclaims what is rightfully Hers will not save you from the end. Find your own Strength and break your chains.

Finally, I wish to speak to those we have lost. You are missed, in time you will be forgotten as we all will be. Until we too take our share of endings I hope you know that even in your absence you bring value, both in the remnants of what once was and the potential which can now thrive in your absence.

Endings are upon us now, grief is inevitable. That grief is an expression of the importance of what once was, of the failed strivings and moments of victory. But I implore those of you still read, do not let your fear of grief paralyse you! For while we grieve we lay the foundations of new beginnings, the start of stories and creations which will surpass the wildest predictions which were possible under the old paradigm. Embrace endings, and prepare to begin again.
