Targossas,
I wanted to thank you for attacking the Recusants and putting us on such a large pedestal. In us, you clearly see everything you've removed from yourself, and it infuriates you.
I spent my whole life learning nothing about Darkness, Evil, and Chaos and instead focused entirely on how to become a better empty shell for your purposes. Without that time, I would have learned how to feel, how to love and hate, and how to enjoy life. Truly terrible, nasty, blight-on-Sapience stuff. While I was busy writing out my next way to embrace the corruptions of the world by existing outside of your clenched fist, I seem to have forgotten what I was working towards. To be told so confidently by others what I am doing has been such a learning experience that only Targossas and Mhaldor could teach me. I am lucky enough to have both! It is so much simpler to have the same mindset shoved down my throat by two separate cities.
I will state I do not speak for the Recusants. I speak for myself: Zandyr Obuun. Early in life I saw the greatness in my former mentor as well as my mother while they walked their path working alongside the zealous nature of being in the Dawnspear, Their city with lofty and necessary goals. The burden great and unforgiving. I saw the pain, the strength in their steps, and the experience of just witnessing it is a big part of who I am today. I have learned that everyone must adapt to stick to what they believe is right. It is because of them I stand where I am today.
My path is to serve Creation while still allowing myself to feel, to think, to show compassion and understanding. To be the Harbinger I wanted to be but without the shackles. It may be selfish. It will be riddled with mistakes and errors. I will die thousands of times, many at your hands, many at the hands of threats to Creation. Without Anyone telling me what to think and believe, I will be able to focus on continuing to find who I am and bettering myself for a cause I believe in.
If that makes me an enemy to Them and to the Dawnspear, then let's do this. You've sworn to hunt me, to continue to murder me when I dare exist outside of your control. I've heard that before. I've lived that, before. You are not going to stop me. Instead you will make me stronger and more resolute. Through your misplaced inquisition I will become a stronger and more capable fighter, filled with understanding of what really happens, not what I want to happen.
So from the bottom of my supposedly blighted heart: thank you.
