Hail, Sapience.
Welcome to the third month of the Asterian Festival of History.
Consult Public post #20714 for instructions on how to participate. Those who complete at least six months' worth of tasks and/or events will earn a truly unique historical memento; the more months you complete, the more intricate your reward.
Note: You are only required to complete either ONE task or attend ONE event per month to qualify, and you must note this in your journal. You can complete the tasks of previous months that you have missed as well - simply refer to the correct post.
Theme
------
The month of Aeguary is named after Lord Aegis, the God of War. Ours has been a bloody existence, with war and conflict a hallmark of nearly all of the most significant events of the past. Strategy and battle are part and parcel of the Achaean existence. Therefore, the theme of this month is: conflict.
Monthly Journal Task
---------------------
Even the fiercest battles may eventually fade from mortal memory, but the land never forgets and has the scars to show for it. Legendary battlefields such as the Sangre Plains and the plane of Nishnatoba are two such examples.
Complete either one (1) of these tasks:
[Task 1]
Read all five (5) summaries of historic wars or conflicts on tablets available at these locations:
- Entering a desolate battleground in the Sangre Plains
- Shrine of Ascension in the Siroccian Mountains
- The Temple of Unlife in the Azdun Dungeon
- Austere quarters in Ulangi (open the gate at Loop in the trail, and head upwards in the fortress)
- Sutter's Gap on the Aurulent Highway in Meropis (touch the portal at the town centre of New Thera to reach Meropis).
You must read all five to qualify. Note in your journal which battle you would have liked to fight in, and why.
[Task 2]
Read one (1) of the above summaries and participate in one (1) of the following activities, either at the tablet location or in an arena:
- One-on-one duel
- Party duel
- Ritual duel (refer to any members of The Carmine Circle, or CLHELP TCCIRCLE, for assistance)
Record both the story you read and your duel experience in your journal.
Optional enhancement: Write about a particularly memorable battle or duel that you were involved in.
Events
-------
Bidding for artifacts in the Art and Artifacts auction continues. See AD 482 for the full details.
Many combat activities with a historical focus will happen this month, including arena games such as Champions vs Assassins, Royal Guard and jousting, as well as ship battles.
The Ashtan Festival showcase also happens this month, with pilgrimages, a reading of the Travian Shea epic at Maim's Mansion, and combat duels at the historic North of New Thera duelling site.
Refer to AD 192 for dates and check UPCOMING as well.
Exhibitions
------------
The Grand Obsidian Tower in the south of Nimick, an extensive adventurer-run museum with hundreds of relics, remains open for public visits.
The featured item in the austere gallery at the Asterian Athenaeum is a medallion of the Underworld, which was used by adventurers to communicate and declare their allegiance during the Underworld Rebellion.
The travelling merchant continues to wander the Asterian Restoration grounds. You can travel there easily by TOUCHing the PORTAL at the town centre of New Thera. Ensure you are in perfect health.
Any questions may be directed to myself.
