Elora,

As a former Bard Lord (not to be confused with Lord Bard, I assure
you!), and thus a leader in such an area at one time, my opinion should
be of some worth to you, who once followed that path.

While the greatest works may indeed have mistakes, that is not excuse
for further mistakes by generations who should know better. The
community of artists exists as a place of culture and education for
those who wish to publish their own efforts in any form. That community
is the place for mistakes to be made. Among that community should
wrinkles be warmed from the parchment and a flatter, smoother surface be
presented as the final product. The public deserves a grammatically
correct literary piece - grammar is hardly open to interpretation in
most cases. The technical part of authoring is not so subjective as to
conform to the rules of painting. Such is the realm of the CONTENT, the
STORY. The story is an author's painting. Grammar is more along the
lines of the rules of colour, whereby mixing one with another is bound
to provide the same colour time and time again.

Those of you criticizing sentence structure and grammatical flaw are in
the right. Those of you criticizing the story and its many plots - that
is your right. An author can no more please every reader than a singer
can please every listener, or a painter every person who views the final
product. There are rules that must be followed, however.

I have not read, nor do I plan to read Faladis' book. But those are the
guidelines for artistic representation - content can be artistic - but
the framework must be adhered to.

The former Bard Lord,
Riashain

Penned by my hand on the 8th of Glacian, in the year 419 AF.
