I'm glad you're such an expert.
In fact, you're SO good at what you do, I'd appreciate you analyzing the
realm of every Divine there is in a similar manner and displaying yet
more falsehoods for the world to read.
I'd be amused, but frankly, the rampant idiocy I've witnessed lately is
too much for me to bear.
I'm going to acknowledge the fact that many of the points in your post
are true. Sometimes. Occasionally. Once in a while.
What it comes down to, is that Love is so much more than an emotion,
that your blanket statement can't be farther from the truth. For the
people who understand that, even the emotion is not easily susceptible
to the points you've raised. I've never loved anyone because they made
me feel good. I certainly haven't Loved them because they made me feel
good. Those are simply extensions of my likes and dislikes. In fact, it
would be more appropriate to say that one feels the emotion of love for
someone who possesses generally similar views, a personality that is
compatible with their own (note that this personality does not have to
make someone feel good), is (in most cases) amiable, and possesses
certain characteristics deemed appropriate or requisite. Is it possible
one of those characteristics is to provide some form of 'good feeling'
for the person? Yes, entirely. Is it required for people to feel
emotionally attached? Most certainly not.
Furthermore, note that Love extends to a deeper level whereby
acceptance, understanding and an embracing of perceived flaws and
imperfections is necessary. That is one of the most important facets of
Love. By no means is it the only aspect, but it is a major component,
and furthermore it is not subject to the lower levels of emotion,
whereby 'like' and 'dislike' determine emotional definitions of love. So
while your perception may be that love is the selfish act of serving
one's own interest by finding someone to make themselves feel good...
that you apply that to the general populace and clearly state that no
other option is possible (and I do quote, "you are in love with the way
that person makes you feel, and nothing more."), your judgement is NOT
the only one that counts, is NOT correct, and is highly offensive to me.
I'd request you learn more of the subject before responding, but I know
that isn't going to happen.
The Lady Selene will please forgive my pompous self for replying where
Her voice would best be heard, and Her Order will please excuse my
stepping on their toes in this matter.
