Love

I find it rather amusing that people believe in 'love'. I suppose
clinging to such a notion would make this existence more bearable,
considering the alternative circumstances. Tell me, how many of you
would 'love' your partner if they were horribly disfigured, or suffered
an injury that permanently changed their personality? They are
technically the same person, and love transcends just your bodies,
right?
Let's be honest - people don't 'love' each other because it is some
fated relationship between two kindred souls. They fall in love because
that other person makes THEMSELF feel better, nothing more. Once that
person stops making you feel good about yourself, what happens? Oh, they
changed. You fell out of love with them. Whatever other cliche one-liner
responses for this situation would be appropriate here.
We are naturally selfish beings. We seek out relationships to satisfy
our own needs, and to make our own lives happier. We don't do it because
there is such a thing as love. The next time you think you are in love
with someone, remind yourself - you are in love with the way that person
makes you feel, and nothing more.
