Fly by night

Fly By Night

*A lonely whistle on the horizon. A slow plucking stringed instrument. The tone should burn with crushing lonliness*

I've got an angel to my left, and a lawyer to my right
And my gods it's getting hard to tell which will suit me best
I've got a dagger in my belt, a picture on my locket
Aeon is growing thin and I hear the hangman counting down from ten

*The music begins to swell and build here. Take the time to allow it to do so naturally, focus on the bodies and breathing of your fellow musicians. Take your time with it, we're not after the orgasm here but the pleasure of being alive and in love*

I've got to fly by night, fly by night
My blood is running hot and I've got nowhere else to go
The bolt of conflict is getting to hot to hold

*The singer should be ready to hold notes and play with pitch. Feel free to experiment with pitch, tone, and where you choose to stretch out the vowels*

We've got a problem here, my heart was built on fear
I've got on perfectly good robes
But I'm wearing the wrong boots
I'm solving all the wrong mysteries with all the wrong clues

I feel emaciated and ostracized
I pretend to be a cat but I've got a crocodile's eyes
Now with my feet in the stirrups and gripping my cold reigns
I've got a meeting and I can't be late
Gotta learn to dance with chaos

I've got to fly by night, fly by night
My blood is running hot and I've got nowehre else to go
This bolt of conflict is getting to hot to hold

*It's time to jam! Dance for your lives! No wrong answers, just have fun with it! On the singer's cue the music should slow and return to the orginal plucking, minus the whistling. This is the finale, so don't hold back!*

So darling, rest your head
Lay back in your bed
I promise things will get better when the sun rises
x2

I've got to fly by night, fly by night
x2

*take a bow, you crushed it! Thank you so much for bringing my poetry to life! Please take a moment to give alms to the Lord Bard. You have done his work, and you should honor him with a full throat.*

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Sarapin, in the year 954 AF.
