Ode to a Grove

Manic hunting, distracted fears,
Return tired with will drained.
Safe now to release my tears;
You join with soothing rain.

We keep a promise, you and I;
Though we speak no words.
Replace each broken vow and lie;
Serenade me with your birds.

How bitter cold it is out there;
But you store warm sun rays.
Just when I think I cannot bear,
They light my darkest days.

Hold me in your boughs so strong;
Lift me high above it all.
Up here I know that I belong --
Where big things look so small.

Your blossoms died in chilling frost
As did a love so great.
But you can regrow what was lost;
Give lobelia for my state.

From my birth your call beckoned;
This bond won't let us part.
After you, all else comes second,
My life, my home, my heart.

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Daedalan, in the year 710 AF.
