You Know Who You All Are

All around me,
I can see pieces of me,
shards of me.
Remnants of the woman I once was,
Remnants of the trouble I once was.
All around me,
I can see the man who left my heart,
I can see the leader who tossed me aside,
I can see the parents who left me,
and I see her.
I see the one who wanted me gone,
the girl who tried to take what I had,
because she lost it all,
and wanted me to
suffer the same fate.
If I can't be happy,
why should you?
You stole someone I had not
moved towards, but once he was gone,
I wanted him back.
You had never experienced pain,
Your kindness was probably a ruse,
so why should you feel joy,
when I am here
drowning in ruin?
I forgive you,
for not knowing my life,
and thinking I
could never understand
your sorrows.
I had deserted my city,
abandoned my house,
lost my fiancee,
my mom and my dad,
you think I don't know pain?
I had abandoned my teachings,
my teachers, my pride,
Ashuran no more,
Asthani no more,
you think I lack hurt?
My fiancee waited no more,
the ring he threw into a sewer,
my leader scoffed at my timidness,
call me an attention seeker,
you think I'm way too pure?
My mother abandoned my father,
I too will be tossed aside,
My father speaks no more to me,
I came here to start over,
you think my smile stays on?
I forgive you,
for turning my arm of kindness
into a stranglehold.
I forgive you,
for everything.
I see the shards I must collect,
perhaps you collect yours as well,
maybe when pain fades,
we can glue them together,
and make all things right.
Had we not been at war,
you could have seen my eyes,
I could have seen yours,
we could have been sisters,
we could have been friends.
I can't bring myself to hate,
nor can I hold a grudge,
perhaps the light you will see,
perhaps my hand you will take,
for I will be here, waiting to greet you.
