The Legend of Sario

Gather round my kin
come rain, come shine come snow,
as I tell you of a tale,
from the lights of long ago.
A sorrowful man was he,
Sario was his name,
a bum, a beggar a cheat,
he brought his house to shame.

His mom forced him as a priest,
but his heart lied in the song,
to heal with no passion,
the whole practice to him was wrong.
He skipped out on his lessons,
to sing and then run free,
but his house tracked him down,
and whipped him for all to see.

Unable to take the life,
his heart pulled him away,
his mind was all made up,
he knew he could not stay.
Without notice to his house
he got right up and fled,
his house called him their foe,
a status he would dread.

In a moment of sheer madness,
he shouted at his kin,
"I will not let you control me,
I swear I won't give in.
You can chase me to the end,
but for you I will not bleed,
My presence was never worthy,
and me you will not need."

His mother let out a laugh,
and fell right to the floor,
"You are assuming child,
we cared about you before.
You suffer from delusions,
that you are worth our time,
and we'll stop and hunt you down,
for your petty little crime."

She waved her hand to shoo him,
and stared him in the eyes,
"That you left was our fault,
it is naught but lies.
We always cheered you on,
and encouraged you to fight,
you're being too dramatic,
now get out of my sight."

Sario was not a quitter,
but he knew her words were true,
the people were indifferent,
and there was naught that he could do.
He shot back at his mother
and said in a strong voice
"You may have never cared,
but I don't regret my choice.

"A man who never knew me,
called me a sociopath,
the head said i was mental,
that did naught but make me laugh.
Maybe I am insane,
but deep down I think you're scared
someone voiced against you,
and you sure weren't prepared."

"I fear nothing, stupid boy,
so why not go away?
You never make any sense,
and I've heard enough for one day."
Sario waved his hand,
and walked out of the door
"I am leaving this city,
it is not home to me anymore."

He wandered through the world,
but loneliness filled his heart,
for a moment he felt regret,
and thought he shouldn't part.
But in his path he saw,
a woman with the same tears,
he gazed into her eyes,
that abated his fears.

He looked into her eyes
and asked "who are you?"
She stared right back into them,
and said "I am lost too.
I gave up on my teachings,
just to follow my dream,
But I was shunned and mocked,
that nearly made me scream.

"I am no longer afraid though,
It will not cause my demise,
I will be better than them all,
and my strength will surely rise."
Sario shook his head,
and stared right at the floor.
"Revenge is not the way,
it's not what you live for.

"Live to be yourself,
and live to grow your mind,
search your soul and heart,
and maybe it's peace that you'll find."
The woman stared at him,
and turned to walk away,
Sario grabbed her hand,
"Don't go, i beg you. Stay."

The two wandered the world,
ignoring constant disdain,
they learned the truth they sought,
that there is strength in pain.
So if you fear your dreams,
remember this old tale,
if you believe in your own heart,
you will always prevail.
