Summerstorm

The scent and steady beat of rain
Call me to another place,
Another time,
Of hazy days and summer nights,
Memories awash in the shifting colours of a turbulent sky.

The storm comforts in its fury;
Its gusting winds chase away the sweltering heat,
And the sound of thunder drowns out all.

Summer rain, summer storm.

The wind whips about me in a vicious caress,
The trees shudder as they surrender their song.
Yet raindrops fall warm upon my lips,
Soft as the brush of a fading dream,
Sweet as the innocence we once mistook for love.

Penned by my hand on the 8th of Lupar, in the year 596 AF.
