Walking upon the beach of Tasur'ke late in the year 473 AF, a tsol'aa
named Haldor noticed an unusually high amount of debris washing up on
the shore. Splintered wood from a ship comprised most of the wreckage,
as well as a battered shield and a strange bone helm. Investigating
further, the sea captain made his way to the small town's port, where he
was overwhelmed by a nauseating stench. Floating in the shallows just
off the dock was a bloated corpse. Inspecting it as closely as possible,
Haldor observed the tattoo of a black shark inked on the man's chest,
but little else to identify him.
Reporting his findings to Captain Maelstrom at the shipyard, Haldor was
promptly tasked with patrolling the seas in order to find the source of
the wreckage, as well as any survivors. Embarking on the Luminescent
Moon, Haldor navigated northeast from the harbour, following the trail
of debris through the choppy waters of the Eusian Sea. As day broke upon
the first of Glacian, Haldor dropped anchor near the small island of
Colchis, and became the first peaceful visitor its inhabitants had seen
in hundreds of years.
After a brief exploration of the island, Haldor grew curious of what the
Colchians referred to as Umbrin, a dreaded enemy, and sailed northward
to find a second port. There he met with High General Boracin, the
imposing leader of a militaristic people, who explained that a ship had
gone missing while returning with the same bone helm that had washed up
in Tasur'ke. Vexed at the loss of the helm, Boracin dismissed the
adventurer, whose waiting crew was directed back toward Sapience to tell
of the rediscovery of Colchis and the Port of Umbrin.
