As the War of the Child wreaked havoc across Sapience, a strange bloody
glow shown over the Mannaseh Swamp and a demonic feminine voice reached
out, "It is time! Take me to the fissure!" Upon investigation, Angelus
was the first to discover the kris dagger in the swamp, which glowed
with a shimmering red aura. The kris dagger had a mind of its own, and
wouldn't let him or any other pick it up. That is, until Lord Stee
Trefenwyd of the Maldaathi Knights raced to it and found that it allowed
him to handle it. At this point, the Armies of the Child realized that
this strange kris dagger was to be used upon the Divine Child. The
Armies of the Child raced to the fissure to stop Lord Stee and a mighty
battle began, but not before Lord Stee threw the kris dagger into the
fissure, striking the Divine Child. Though the Son of War and Chaos was
partially unbound by the efforts of the Armies of the Child, the divine
energies already drained from the Divine Child, as well as the churning
power bled from the Darkenwood Forest, were enough to trigger the Lord
of Evil's master plan.

A brillant crimson glow flooded the sky over Baelgrim Fortress,
illuminating its battlements with a bloody light. An explosion of
cacophonous sound surged over the landscape as the fissure beneath
Mhaldor erupted in a massive wave of discharged energy, drowning out the
agonized shrieks of the Divine Child. At this point, Sartan's cruel
scheme was uncovered, as he had been using the energies of the fissure
to resurrect Indrani, the Demon Queen. Using the divine essence of the
sacrifice, the Demon Queen rose up as the silhouette of a winged female
form, surrounded by writhing flames of shimmering scarlet fire. She
ravaged the Divine Child, using his body and essence to create her own
form.

While Indrani gloated over her resurrection, Eris, Goddess of Chaos,
raced towards Mhaldor and reclaimed the Divine Child. Withdrawing to the
Great Erisian Pyramid, she named the Divine Child "Pandemonium" and
placed him on the Eileithyian Tree, using her own divine essence to
partially restore his health. And, now, Pandemonium, Son of War and
Chaos, sleeps on the Eileithyian Tree, slowly healing by the powers of
Eris and Aegis, and having the taint of Evil drain away. Exhausted, Eris
explained that because of the efforts of the Armies of the Child to
unbind him from his prison in the fissure, enough unholy bonds were
burned away to allow him to survive. And, because Indrani's resurrection
was only a partial success (for she did not utterly consume
Pandemonium's essence), Indrani's form was unstable at best.

As for the Well of Chaos in Ashtan, the Icerune Crater in Cyrene,
Daybreak's Mirror in Shallam, the Cauldron of Infinity in Eleusis, the
Fontis in Hashan, and the gaping fissure in Mhaldor, all of which were
created by the Eye of Proteus, these artifacts still stand in their
respective cities, but their potentialities remain unknown. What the
future may bring remains a mystery.

Back in the Garden, several gods asked, who was this Indrani? The gods
that knew made astounding revelations. Apparently, she was once a
warrior within the Inferno Legions during the War of Humanity, also
known as the Chaos War. The Triumvirate promoted her to the position of
general, where she earned the nickname Indrani the Cruel. Pleased with
her early successes, the Triumvirate used the Eye of Proteus to create
the kris dagger, which they gave to her as a weapon of extraordinary
power, for it was tied into the Demon Planes and would allow her to
easily control the armies of demons that would be required. This was
early in the Great War, and an alliance formed between Twilight and
Aegis. They ambushed Indrani, now known as the Demon Queen, using the
kris dagger to trap her on the Demon Planes. As part of the arrangement
between Darkness and War, Twilight was given custody of the Eye of
Proteus and he withdrew from further involvement in the Great War.
Neither Twilight nor Aegis ever spoke again of this ephemeral alliance
and the knowledge of its existence was hidden by mutual agreement. It is
speculated that, while trapped in the Demon Planes, Indrani's power
magnified and, coupled with the essence drained from the Divine Child,
she has risen to the ranks of the Divine themselves.

And, now, weakened by draining her essence to her son, Eris, Goddess of
Chaos, rests in the Garden, looking off into the unknown and wondering
where her husband is, off wandering the nether planes chasing the other
Slith, whom Sartan split in two, still thinking the Prince of the Undead
holds his son. "Come back, Aegis," she whispers. But all that answers
her is silence.
