Incredible. I can't remember there ever having been a Capture The Flag
as nerve-wrackingly close as this one. It was toe-to-toe for literally
the very last few minutes, with Ashtan and Shallam vying for the lead.
The final score:
Ashtan 14320
Shallam 14557
Hashan 4732
Cyrene 71
Mhaldor 0
Eleusis 0
A synopsis: While both Ashtan and Shallam managed to quickly locate and
plant 2 flags each at the beginning of the CTF, Ashtan was faster to
plant and thus grabbed a slight early lead. Hashan, allied with Mhaldor,
gained a single flag at a later time. All sides seemed content to guard
their flags steadfastly, so this status quo was maintained for roughly
three quarters of the CTF; however, in the final quarter, things began
to heat up.
Flags rapidly changed hands and locations, and Shallam pulled into the
lead with 3 flags planted. In the last nail-biting ten minutes, Ashtan
and their allies managed to have 4 flags planted while Shallam lost a
flag, and it seemed like the Bastion of the North would slide into
victory by the tiniest margin. In the very last few minutes, however,
Shallam and their allies were able to take down one of Ashtan's flags,
triumphantly assuring their victory by only 237 points.
My description cannot do it justice, but trust me: this exhilaratingly
close endgame deserves a place in modern history. Congratulations to
Shallam and their allies for your victory, and to Ashtan as well; it was
a valiant fight indeed.
The Effigy of Victory now rests at the gates of the Jewel of the East.
Gaze upon it, Shallam, and be proud!
Penned by My hand on the 19th of Aeguary, in the year 486 AF.
