Achaean News
allies, enemies, and some great stuff coming

Due to the untiring efforts of the intrepid Prospero, lord
of money, gold, emolument, riches, and shiny stuff (and
coder extraordinaire!), we have something new.
It's not something you'll be able to see exactly, but you
may feel it. We've changed the way we do allies and enemies.
Not the way YOU do allies and enemies! That's still the same.
Go ahead and do ALLIES, ENEMIES, ALLY whoever, ENEMY whoever,
UNALLY whoever, UNENEMY whoever, UNALLY ALL, UNENEMY ALL, and
everything else just as before.
What's different is that it's being stored and accessed in
a way that has two huge advantages:
1) it's a lot faster, and
2) it allows for us to make all sorts of changes easily.
The results of 1) you may be able to see very soon, because
it should make everything just a tad faster during normal
Achaean days. Nothing huge, but from a performance perspective,
definitely something worth crowing about - on the order of
2-4 percent increase in speed.
The big win will come, we believe, during broader events
such as CTFs, where of course combat is more intense and
frequent, and allies and enemies play a rather greater role.
The results of 2) are hard to pin down, because we haven't
decided for sure, but now it becomes much easier to, say,
sell very cheap artefacts that allow you to expand your
allies or enemies lists to beyond the current limit of 20.
It's all fun, and it's all due to the hard work of our
beloved Prospero. Kudos to you, O master Weaver!
Penned by my hand on the 10th of Chronos, in the year 430 AF.
