a major change

I instituted two major xp-related changes today. I've been thinking
about these for over six months and finally decided that they were
changes worth making.
1. I have put a cap on xp loss. This will not affect most of you, but it
will affect ultra-high level people. A level 100 person will lose only
about 5% of what he or she would previously have lost, due to the fact
that previously their loss was supremely large.
2. I have reduced the basic xp loss for all deaths by approximately
37.5%. That figure is modified by things like starburst (for a starburst
death) but the amount of xp you lose from a death should be
approximately 37.5% lower than before. (Note that when I say 37.5% lower
I'm talking about absolute xp, which you don't see. It's got no
relationship to the % to the next level you see.)
I did this because I felt that the amount one loses to dying is simply
too punishing, and that there's no real reason for it. I toyed with
lowering it even further, but I think for now we'll leave it there.
Penned by my hand on the 15th of Scarlatan, in the year 335 AF.
