Achaean News
job opening

Date: Thursday, November 14th, 2002
Addressed to: Everyone
We're going to spin off another version of Achaea like we did with
Aetolia, and we're looking for someone to run it. If you're familiar
with Aetolia, we're looking for someone to fill Varian's role in this
new game, which is more-or-less the equivalent of my role as Sarapis
here. You'd be completely responsible for managing the game, ongoing
development, putting together and maintaining a volunteer team, and so
on. We'd handle advertising, billing, accounting, and legal.
The requirements for an applicant are necessarily high, as the job
requires a variety of skills. First and foremost, you have to already be
an experienced, good coder (C or C++. You'll be learning our Rapture
language, which is C-like.). You also must be creative, self-motivated
(you'll be working out of your home), intelligent, and have a leadership
personality.
Compensation would include a combination of base salary plus a
significant percentage of profits, plus ownership incentives based on
achieving revenue goals.
This is a great opportunity if you want to work in games for a living.
It's not easy, and you'll be putting in some long hours, but it can be a
lot of fun (even after 5+ years of Achaea being online, I still love my
job.)
If you're interested, please send a resume in Word or .pdf format (or a
link to equivalent info on the Web) to jobs@achaea.com. Make sure you
let us know who your character(s) in Achaea are too.
Penned by my hand on the 9th of Valnuary, in the year 320 AF.
