Kinilan,
Thrice now you have brought my name into your petty antics. Let us briefly speak truth to the claim you levy, as - from the looks of these boards over the years - you seem to be a great believer in the power of context.
I would remind you that the action inspiring your complaint - again, that the famously anti-mercantile old troll is too fond of gold - was that I offered a wager on a tilt.
The records that do exist from your era, and from the many eras that preceded it, seem to suggest that it was then, as now, a fairly common occurrence for those of us who strive to live by the knightly ideal. Perhaps this escaped you during your no-doubt rigorous training.
In the instance of our meeting, I had rather hoped that the prospect of earning gold might be appealing to you in ways that meeting an honourable challenge would not; you rather famously refused challenges to duels in the years leading up to our meeting, and my sincerest hope was that you might be induced to accepting a challenge where previously you had not.
One must assume that these omissions are merely the result of foggy memory, the years and decades having blended together in the mire of old age; for one must also assume that nobody who holds any regard for chivalry would so brazenly obfuscate the truth.
Regards,
Sir Aodfionn Wintermourne
A Gaian Knight
Penned by my hand on the 10th of Chronos, in the year 967 AF.
