Angela,

I am so happy to report that the soiree to benefit the Lucretian
Athenaeum was a tremendous success! I shall provide details of the event
itself in due time, but first I must express my delight at the
generosity of our fellow Sapients. The funds raised far surpassed even
our wildest dreams. Without doubt, we shall be able to implement every
one of our plans and make the desired acquisitions. Indeed, the surplus
is such that my team has already begun brainstorming just what to do
with the extra funds!

The fundraiser started as it continued: busy. The herald informs me that
guests began to amass outside the Athenaeum's doors for an entire day
prior to our scheduled start, so eager were they to start the
festivities. When the herald finally began to allow people in, the queue
was so great that it filled much of Summer Lane, their formal dress
quite out of place among the New Therans going about their daily
business.

After I finished welcoming one and all, the string quartet began the
evening's entertainment whilst the guests settled into polite
conversation with one another. The main events continued promptly as
scheduled with a brief play by the Carnivalis Institute of Jestering.
Their work was simply flawless, entertaining all lucky enough to be
present. Truly, Angela, it was a sight to behold! The concluding
applause was near deafening.

The auction - my primary focus for the evening - was next. Again, the
response was astounding. Strangely, the swords generated the least
revenue, selling for about 300,000 gold each. Toward the auction's
conclusion, however, the bids climbed steadily higher, culminating in a
donation of nearly five million gold from the Sylvanic Fellowship for
Lady Melantha's rose! Let us hope they are not disappointed with the
investment!

Much gawping and amazement filled the air as we moved on to the
performance by Ty Beirdd. Much like the Carnivalis Institute, the house
performed beautifully. They are to be commended for their imagination
and skill.

It was at this point that Tyrandiel's spectacle was revealed. All
present were transported instantly through her illusory magics to the
Chrysalis Basilica to view a re-enactment of Nicator's funeral.
Gracious, reverent, and respectful, the guests viewed that most hallowed
and historical of events. Afterward, to conclude the soiree, we moved
outside to view the wonderful fireworks that the villagers prepared. As
you can no doubt testify, it was truly a display of the highest
magnitude!

Attending our little soiree were many of Achaea's rulers, from the Great
Mhunna of Moghedu and the dryad Queen Titania to the Overseer of our
ally, Ashtan! Strangely, the ruler of Tir Murann was among the guests.
His behaviour was acceptable and polite, but his presence was disturbing
and increased my anxiety tenfold. Whether this marks a desire for
normalisation of relations or a resurgence of the war is not for me to
say, but I thought it best to bring to your attention.

I must extend my warmest words of appreciation to the herald, waiter,
seurity staff, and mages. Their work was just flawless! On a personal
note, please accept the thanks of both myself and my staff for your
support and attendance. We are indebted to you.

Ever yours,
Nissa
