Return to Mysia

"Black-sailed ships sighted off the coast!"

Moments after a Paladin of the Guard conveyed his warning to the city of
Shallam, alerts were sounding across the Sapience as captains hastily
recruited crews to combat what looked to be a return of the Kashari war
galleys from years past. Fears of invasion were soon quelled, however,
as the voice of Kelley, the long-absent mayor of the Port of Mysia,
announced the return of pirates to their tropical island hideaway.

Ships changed course and began to fill the harbour at Mysia, where
adventurers noted the presence of two war galleys within the protected
waters of Castalian Cove. Pirates began to disembark by the handful, and
the recognisable faces of Kelley, Greybeard, Brodie, and others joined
the newly returned pirates on the dock.

It didn't take long for the subject of rum to surface, and the pirates
headed toward the Dancing Dryad Tavern in search of a drink. In response
to patrons clamouring for the story of the pirates' capture and escape,
Kelley leaned against the wall in cool satisfaction, drawing a puff from
her cigar, and consented to tell the tale.

Since their capture by the Kashari more than a decade ago, the pirates
had been put to work alongside dozens of other slaves as shipbuilders on
a barren island surrounded by stormy seas. Day in and day out they
toiled, crafting vessels for the fleet of Warlord Kyar. Finally,
opportunity struck, as the majority of the Kashari sailed to battle on
the nearby seas.

The story was filled with action and suspense as Kelley narrated,
regaling bystanders with the triumphant battle that won the pirates
their freedom. Credit was due to a man known as the Lion, Kelley added,
who was well known amongst the Kashari as a fearsome liberator of
slaves. His ships arrived in the nick of time, inspiring their fellow
captives to join in rebellion against the guards, and eventually led
them through unnavigable seas to reach their home.

Now, with two of the Kashari war galleys under their command, the
pirates of Mysia are stronger and more roguish than ever. It is
rumoured, furthermore, that one intrepid pirate known as Scurvy Jim is
offering his newly gained talent in shipbuilding as a service to the
public, copying the Kashari designs... for a price.

Penned by My hand on the 1st of Ero, in the year 537 AF.
