A clash of drums thundered throughout the land as the Orphean Serenade rang out during the month of Valnuary, seven hundred and forty five years after the fall of Seleucar.
Moments later, a fanfare of trumpets joined the belligerent chorus, as the great battle-stones of Nishnatoba materialised on the streets of Mhaldor and Targossas.
For the next day did the armies of Good and Evil begin to gather upon this most ancient of battlefields. Generals drilled their soldiers on the coming conflict, finalising their preparations and readying themselves for a showdown that could have only one victor.
Once more did Nyderrasethi Moonwolf stand at the head of the iniquitous legions, flanked by Commandant Aegoth Aristata and Tyrannus Proficy. Among his soldiers stood Kiet, Melodie, Ysela, Medi, Titonus, Verquisse, Ailea, Reyson, Seortiae, Saibel, Cooper, Kythra, Exxia, Herenicus, and the newly-inculcated Rom and Iakimen. On the eastern ruins of Nishnatoba they stood, quivering with an insatiable lust for blood.
In the western ruins, the forces of Good swelled under the eyes of the Dawnlord, Farrah Roualt, marching with Tesha al Ashtad and Judicator Atalkez at her side. Many were the soldiers of light and good, among them the faces of Daeir, Ankhareoutef, Antidas, Mathilda, Torinn, Xaden, Ashu, Greys, Ada, Tysandr, Jor, Nazihk, and Frederich, all determined to win the day.
Presided over once again by the Warlord, Morthif Aristata, the Domnitor's voice rang out as he called an end to preparations, declaring the battle begun.
Instantly the two armies marched into battle, their forces clashing head on as the sound of anguished screams and painful death-rattles began to split the skies over Nishnatoba. On all sides did soldiers fall and falter, death's hammer relentless in its crushing blows as rivers of blood torrented through the ravaged plane, and both sides tirelessly worked to restore their dead with the magics of Spiritlore, Alchemy, and Devotion.
Realising that their foes were being revived as quickly as they fell, the armies soon turned their attentions on the healers, among them Shamans, Alchemists, and Priests. Focused with unparalleled precision, the Dawnspear brought its full might to bear upon Kiet, cutting him down twice in rapid succession and denying the Mhaldorians access to the restorative spirit magics. At once did the Tyrannus give chase to Daeir, ceaselessly harrying him across the clouds of Nishnatoba in an attempt to end his life, while the remaining legion of Evil pursued Ankhareoutef, hell bent on destroying him.
Over half a dozen times did the Shaman fall, implacably rising again, and again, and again before - surrounded at last - Ankhareoutef fell for the final time, forced to kneel to Ugrach for restoration. With no means of revival available to either side, the battle raged on in earnest, totalling some one hundred and fifty lives claimed in its fury, the voice of the Domnitor calling out in delight of the glory and terror of war.
As the dawn broke over Nishnatoba, so too did the Dawnspear break upon the field. A terrible sight unfolded over the ruins, an ocean of blood carrying a plethora of mangled entrails and battered viscera along its crimson waves as - with a collective sigh of astonished relief - the remaining forces of Mhaldor stood victorious, loosing cheers of victory in the name of the Malevolent One.
Summary: Mhaldor and Targossas met on Nishnatoba for a decisive battle of war. After a whole day of fighting, during which over a hundred and fifty deaths occured, Mhaldor stood victorious having banished the forces of light from the plane.
