Greetings, friends.

I am pleased to inform you that Sarapis has given Cynne and myself permission to create Achaea's first collection of sonnets. A contest will be held for all Achaeans to create a sonnet and have it included within this work of art. There are forty-eight open spots for sonnets, so there will be many winners. Regulations for entrance, and other information is included below. Please participate in the great event.

Winners are chosen for excellence in writing, rhyming, and artistic language. To make it easier to choose the winners, and also to create an appealing aura to this collection, the sonnet has been chosen as the standard by which the entries must follow. This has very strict regulations, but the poems must be of a good quality in order to live on. If there are not as many able to create poems with such limitations, they will be relaxed. These rules are as follows:

1. It must be 14 lines long, each using iambic pentameter. This means that every line has exactly 10 syllables, with a meter of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one.

2. The rhyme scheme is as follows: line 1 - A, line 2 - B, line 3 - A, line 4 - A, line 5 - B, line 6 - C, line 7 - B, line 8 - B, line 9 - C, line 10 - D, line 11 - C, line 12 - C, line 13 - D, line 14 - D
- where each letter represents a rhyme ending. Also, the last two lines should be indented, and should portray the central theme of the sonnet creatively.

3. The collection will include a wide range of themes, from an event in history, to a particualr person or emotion, to even a tribute to a god. It should be noted that there will be only a few of each theme chosen, and the selection process _will_ be unbiased as to choosing the winning poems. Also, do not include a title, as sonnets are numbered.

There will be four winners who shall recieve pecuniary prizes, including one grande prize. The rest will have the privalege of having their sonnets included. They should be sent to Strife on a letter, with the name of the author, including current title, located somewhere on it. Everyone can enter as many poems as they wish, though a 500 entrance fee must be included. The more entries, the more each winner gets. The amount for each prize will be set at a future time, as well as how long until the contest closes. Good luck!

May evil guide you on your path towards greatness.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Lupar, in the year 232 AF.
