Tolerance and Justice

Tolerance is a beautiful thing. We of the Church accept your presence and the presence of every being in Achaea, reglardless of guild or belief, for we believe in the freedom of all people to choose their own path in life. This, my friend, is tolerance. Tolerance is the foundation of freedom, and it makes me very disappointed in you to see so clearly how you refuse to accept the presence of the Church, or for that matter, the presence of those who are "weak" by the standards of the laws of Evil in which you and your guild believe. You are intolerant, and therefore it is you, and those who share your views, who are oppressive. I fear for Achaea when the Infernals will begin their quest of "purging" the land of the "weak", namely those who believe in the effeminate values of virtue, tolerance, and forgiveness, as this is the true Oppression.

If Laergon's post to me were worthy of response, I would have told him what I tell you now. Truly, intolerance and hatred of the Church and our sacred art has forced our beautiful shrines to become weapons, as they are guided by the divine hand to protect themselves and those who craft and maintain them, as I stated earlier. It is frustrating to see how the oppression by those who hate the Church and our culture has obliterated the value of our shrines as masterpieces of creativity and artistry, a world forgotten, buried under the violence, hatred, and bloodshed brought forth by the intolerant.

At any rate, these are my words to you: Laergon stated that he cannot accept our weapons, and it is clear that you share his refusal. We of the Church accept *your* weapons, as we accept the weapons of everyone else in Achaea. Therefore, you only show weakness and oppression in refusing to accept our weapons.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the subject of justice based on happiness, I have two responses to you, personally. First of all, I deny the validity of your excuse as being emotionless. If you are tormented by injustices against you, then you do have emotions. Therefore, you also pursue happiness. No doubt, you have chosen your path in life, because in makes you happy--feeling pleasure in pain, for example, or hearing out my perspectives to become more informed, even, as a more neutral example. You certainly do things on your own initiaive, because you have chosen to do what you do for a reason--because it makes you happy in some form or another. You, according to the personal nature of your arguments and actions, are not a marionette, therefore you cannot be emotionless.

My second response to you takes into account the hypothetical case where you would be emotionless as you say. If you truly have no emotions, then you are beyond justice: since you can never be happy, no one can ever violate your happiness, therefore no one can ever commit an injustice against you. Or, from a different angle, without emotions, you can never be tormented by any possible injustices against you, so there is no reason to regard them as injustices.

Good day.

Sincerely,

Echo
