The difference between Infernals and Paladins

The measure of a man is determined by his enemies, not by his friends. I once thought that this made me a greater man, because Pierce is my prime opponent here in Achaea. As it turns out, this statement speaks more highly of him than I.
Since I emerged from Minia, a young and idealistic young squire, I have always been vocal about the lack of honour and chivalrous conduct within the guild of the paladins. For years, the only paladins I have had any respect for were Pierce, Perseus, and Kyasha all fierce warriors, and all seemingly loyal to their sense of valor.
Today, Pierce agreed to meet with me in a neutral place, so we could meet face for the last time as fellow knights (although we have never been friends). From this meeting on, we would be enemies of the worst kind. He promised me safe passage and we met on the bridge at Delos.
We spoke of the things Knights and Guild Masters speak of as they agree to disagree about the things they hold most dear. My Secretary Matidon of the Infernals joined us later. As we were saying our farewells, Pierce did something that surprised me, though at the same time, did not surprise me. He challenged me to a fight, knowing that I was honour bound to accept. The promise of safe passage only lasted as long as we continued to talk. He insisted that his challenge was an entirely separate matter from our meeting under the white flag.
I told Pierce that I would accept his challenge at the cost of my respect for him, knowing full well that I would lose. And lose I did, with much haste in fact. Matidon was my second and immolated me immediately. Our guild has no possibility of wearing armour and we have no weapon proficiencies. I have been guild master for three days and had guild skills for just over one. In other words it was hopeless. You are surely thinking "Why is Sinistar whining? Why did he accept a hopeless fight?" To that I will answer this: I am not whining, I am showing all of Achaea that GUILD MASTERS LEAD BY EXAMPLE. His example is to pick a fight under a truce, and my example is to walk fearlessly into the fire of adversity. His guild need not learn of his example, they seem to know their role in life from the start. However, I hope my own guild can see the difference between the Infernals and the Paladins and are confident that they are in the right place.
