My Pledge

Written by: Dreamseed Gretyl
Date: Sunday, July 25th, 1999
Addressed to: Everyone

<Gretyl walks into the Grove of Gaia with no hesitation. She kneels in the middle of the Grove and begins to speak.>

<She indicates a sacrificial dagger in her hand.> With this blade, do I swear to pledge myself in your ever-loving embrace. To strive for a land free from war, free from bloodshed. For cities of growth and love, for towns of warmth and welcome. I shall uphold your word, defend your creatures, and save the citizens of Sapience from themselves when they do stray. <With this, she raises the dagger over her head. She says a few simple words in Tsol'aa and nicks the dagger deep into her right shoulder. She winces from the pain, but does not cry out. She sets down the dagger and holds her left hand over her wound.> Help me keep my pledge, Earthmother.

<She stands up, and with her hand still over her wound, returns to the forest from whence she came.>

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Mayan, in the year 224 AF.
