The Present's Ordinary

I am old, and for well over a century, it has appeared to me that this world has been focused more and more on numbers housed in the world of math. How much damage we can do, how much harm, to whom, and how to optimize this for combat and hunting.
Sometimes, I found myself worrying whether this weakened the realm of words ... the world of communication, the world of philosophy, the world of spirituality, the world of books, the world of diplomacy, the world of crafting, the world of creativity. The world of creating our personal paths in this life including aspects beyond combat and hunting.
All worlds I personally always considered key founding grounds for these realms, and cherished. All worlds that are responsible for me (a non-hunter and non-combatant) still being here, after more than five centuries.
That said, the recent decisions by Eleusis seemed at first sight (yestermonth) to me very surprising and (in lack of a better term) exotic, simply because it could put current Eleusians in the their own village to a combat disadvantage. Why put one's own "math" to such disadvantage? Why would anyone chose this, and purely voluntarily?
However, today, and after reading some insights shared on this PUBLIC board (for which I must thank those Eleusians who took time to share), I think I may be starting to understand, and thus, I realize how much I appreciate Eleusis in what appears the start of a journey embracing also the outside of what I perceive to be the present's ordinary ... the "beaten paths" of math.
From deep within my heart and soul, I thank you.
