Knowledge exists to uplift civilisation. Ally or enemy, another's perspective can only improve our understanding. The founding of Seleucar would not have happened without Nicator's lectures across Sapience and his spirited debates in Thera, Shallam, and Ashtan. The gift of knowledge he received from Lord Sarapis ensured Seleucar was prepared for the Black Wave when it came.

Sapience has faced many threats, and will again. Clues held in libraries, by past generations, and in knowledge held by cities and Orders may provide us with the means to defeat these foes.

Yet Roualt and Targossas seek to interfere because Cyrene's net of knowledge does not meet their standard of ideological purity.

To those of the East: Cyrene does not and will not support Chaos, the destructive force that rips at Creation. What we support is knowledge, and you seem to have gotten the two confused. We had no quarrel with you, and have never interfered in your campaigns against Nihilists. But if you continue to target our peaceful gatherings simply because we do not silence those whom you disapprove, we will continue to defend ourselves.
