A Paradox Unravelled

Initiate Tahquil,

I am pleased to see that your advanced age has not lessened your powers of perception. The cycle of Nature does indeed repeat itself, from the new beginnings of spring to the dead of winter we see this cycle perpetuate itself. However it seems that you have conflated a few things and I would like to resolve your ignorance.

The cycle of Nature does not involve the rise of cities, of civilisations, it predates your walls of marble and the comforts your home permits and will persist long past the point that these things have been tilled back into the earth to rejoin the cycle proper. Cities are an aberration, a tumor which draws the vital lifeblood from Her intended order in order to sustain themselves and grow. It should be noted that such tumors are either excised or will grow and consume until such point as they kill their host and in turn die off as their vitality fades away.

This is why your city, and that of every other civilisation which dedicates itself to growth and expansion, to consumption, must be razed. You are not part of the cycle, you are a distortion which demands stagnation to prevent its own demise, ironically ensuring that it will, in time, wither as it strips away the bounties which you exploit.

We have been stuck in an eternal autumn, everything around us rots and decays, there can be no rest, no renewal, until such time as mortality recognises and embraces their inevitable deaths or they are culled by force. The process is forestalled at every turn and you write as though growth is inevitable when there is no room left to grow.

It is my suggestion that if you are so interested in allowing the Cycle to continue that you set to work dismantling your city, stone by stone. Alternatively you can lie down in your streets and wait for those who are willing to bring about Change to return you to the earth. Anything else is the instincts of self-preservation from an animal which whose time has come, who would see the process which brought them life cease so that they may persist. They are selfish, loathsome, and beyond my capacity for pity, their Death is to be sought and celebrated for it brings one step closer to the cycle's continuation.

I hope that this has resolved your questions and whatever paradox you may have formed in your ignorance. Feel free to reach out if you need further clarification.
