Dawnlord,
First I must commend you on such an excellently written post. Indeed, it is true that there are threats to Sapience as there have always been. That the Dawnspear has chosen to raise its head once more and deal with a threat that has taken a skip past the gates and leapt in to it in order to destroy yet more as is rather admirable...except for one fact.
Your words state 'A New Dawn', to quote the title of your post. It seems to me, Dawnlord, that with all the 'New Dawns' Targossas has had, then perhaps your message should have been more about the inconsistency of your city rather than how you and yours oh so bravely stand up and fight for Sapience and the Creation as you would pretend to always have done.
Those of us who are of His City, of Mhaldor, are taught from a very early age that one does not let a threat to the world enter without eradicating it. It matters not whether the threat is Ashtan who stand with their Chaos lords, whether it is the Darkness of Hashan, or even whether it is something similar as with the Tsol'teth who have sought to conquer, enslave, and ultimately destroy the world which we know yet a third time. We are trained, our minds and bodies honed, until we are ready to enter the fray and realise that the hour upon which they fall is nigh.
Nor, for that matter, do we ally ourselves with them as Targossas seems to do whenever it is convenient for them. One day an enemy, the next an ally, and back and forth or so the Targossian way seems.
Now, I am but a mere Chancellor, a merchant. With the ever changing actions of Targossas and the consistent, steady actions of Mhaldor wherein we have always fought enemies even if it means standing alone, I am able to smile as I recognise that my investment in serving the Master, Lord Sartan, was right.
After all, why invest in a plethora of ever changing falsehoods when you can invest in the Truths?
In His Eternal service,
Chancellor Lii Lichlord.
