On Home's Common Inquiries

Hello.

As we have had a flood of requests for information regarding the HOME funding option as mentioned in PUBLIC NEWS 21247, we thought it suitable to provide some questions and answers we have received most often.

Can I join the community while a member of an existing city?
No. If you wish to live in Home, you will have no other home. This includes all cities and Eleusis.

Why do I need to interview with you to join?
This is primarily to better acquaint us with each other. We will be neighbors and share in the toil of living on the fringes of mortality's demesne. Residents should share a passion for the community and a discussion is the easiest way to both come to understand each other and see if we would cohabitate well.

Can I move in without a tent?
You can, but still need go through the meet and greet interview and have an existing resident agree to house you as part of their tent.

Will I be expected to fight for Home?
Ideally, there is no reason for combat in a fledgling community, but we have already seen fights dragged to us by the unscrupulous who cannot separate an individual's actions from Home's bounds. If someone came to tear down your home, we would hope you would jump to protect it, but we are neither a battlefield nor a roving band of marauders. Supporting the community in other ways is fine.

Is this a Gaian plot?
No. Go live in Eleusis if you want to grovel under Her tenets.

Why are you doing this?
A complicated question. The simple answer is the Mhojave was my home in my youth, and to return now felt natural after our departure from Hashan. The actual experience of spending time in the world, though, made us want more of it. In a matter of months we had spoken to more people and engaged with a wider segment of the world than we ever had before, and it has not stopped in the two years since.

We want to give mortality a chance to rethink our choices in the world. That we live safe, comfortable lives in the existing settlements. That we can hide behind walls and shut ourselves off from the rest of our people. That if you reject the established cities, your options are to live on a boat or to be a permanent guest in someone else's city.

We want more. We will settle on this frontier, in the wilds of the world, the wastes that nobody cares about except as hunting space between cities. We will stand exposed, with doors flung open to guests, and mingle with all that mortality has to offer. We will sit and share stories and favourite drinks. We will lend each other our tools and talents. We will create. We will shape our futures. We will live. And likely die.

We will make a new Home together.
