Greetings,

I find myself yet again city-less, and I would like to share with you my inner conflict and thoughts that led to this decision.

I just recently re-joined a city, swearing oaths of aggression, hopeful that I could keep them. After sleepless nights - filled with questions such as "why do I find myself again in the midst of city conflict?" - I realized I had to revert.

I have swayed with the times, tasting victory and defeat, adopting moral codes or right and wrong - of black and white. I have called myself "the White" in a distant past, adorning myself with rightousness and colorless garments. In more recent times I've adopted the "Black Flame" in my titles, an homage to my connection with Lord Thoth and Death. I feel the flame within becoming less intense, as if to balance itself - urging me to find my equilibrium in this world.

I have called multiple cities my home, and made many allegiances. Allegiances I deep down felt I couldn't genuinely keep forever. Yet I chose to ignore that voice within, for the sake of community, the potential of power, or the longing to belong.

From this point onwards I will have nowhere to call home, except the road that leads me to my next destination.

I will adopt no title that hint of factions or belonging. Not White, nor Black, but henceforth Grey.

My message to you is this - don't feel like you have to be a member of a city or a faction. The current state of the cities in Sapience dictates a constant need for conflict. "Our truth is the ultimate truth, hence we reserve the right to assault you for not believing in it, or not adhering to it!". This need for conflict is fictitious however, and does not have to be nurtured. Leave others in peace, and they might return you the favor. Should they not: defend!

Yet as I scribe these words I realize... There will always be those who's life's purpose is conflict. Let them clash with city-states of the same cloth, forever entranced in the dance of war.

Take these words for what they are, a dwindling insomniac's musings. It is my hope that I can help someone else on their own path by sharing reflections from mine. That being said, I am always open to share thoughts and discuss with others, so feel free to contact me for a chat.
