A few salient points

Just a few things to keep in mind, in all the excitement of the last couple of years.
1) Cyrene is the Last City, heir to Seleucar. In Seleucar, the first Black Wave was driven off by all citizens, be they occultist or paladin, standing side by side, fighting shoulder to shoulder. Our current bans have nothing to do with esoteric concepts of creation or chaos, evil or nature, and everything to do with our independence. While these classes are under the control of fanatics from other cities, our citizens will not place their hard-earned power and skills on such a foundation of clay. Personally, I miss the dawn services in the meadow as much as anyone, but we rejected Devotion for a reason, and the same reason applies to Chaos as well.
2) Cyrene's Divine patrons have never been our rulers. They are respected, honourary citizens, and can perform duties others cannot, such as keeping trespassers out, but our independence, again, is the vital principle. Having seen personally the years of disrespect and apathy with which our senators have had to contend, it was high time for a new patron in any case, and I hope that time away will once more fill Lord Phaestus with the zeal to create that I last personally saw in the construction of our Font.
3) On the subject of interlopers - I hope Lady Pandora is taking joy in her role as a trespasser and rule breaker, and does not take these references as an insult, given her own commitment to nonconformism! - were there no gardens in Ashtan beautiful enough? I do not doubt that only Cyrene holds such a jewel worthy of coveting!
4) Finally, Mhaldor, you may crow all you like that your philosophy has brought you a moment of victory, and Hashan, you may claim that your devotion to Darkness brings you independence, but I've never been one for fumbling about in the dark, and the Truth is, your way of life... sucks. A moment of victory is all well and good, but I'd much rather have years of joy and accomplishment working alongside my fellow citizens.
