Cyrene,
It is with a heavy heart I am forced to put pen to paper this day. For the most part since my abrupt departure from Cyrene and the enemy status that followed, I have held my peace and kept my interactions to individuals and discussions. I did not wish to be a distraction in the current climate of division that has exploded into a near breaking point within the city my Lord helped build. Until I heard this month, I was being used as such by the supporters of the Imperiate, and falsehoods made against me and mine were spoken. Until I heard of more gross disrespect from the citizens of the Vashnar's to the very Gods themselves, my Lord especially, which has become entirely too common, and once more been used to distract from the actions of Imperiate Keorin.
So let me be clear. Senators Jiah and Liena have not been threatened with removal from the Supplicants or inability to join the Chosen should they vote to maintain the Imperiate. Senators Liena and Jiah have been assured they will not be mistreated, and I have checked in with both Senators, and spoken with the two individuals who have been named personally. My Lord Himself assured both Senators this very month of that fact. I would have gladly made this clear to the people of Cyrene in person, but the two times I stood outside the city to do just that, the one demanding answers, that would be Gallida, killed me on sight rather than permit her lies he disproved.
I have also heard it said that this is a coup! That my Lord and His followers seek to overtake the government and are capitalizing on a mistake! Once again a lie. We wish only to see those who sought to bring Chaos to Cyrene, and acted to drive our Lord from the city He helped bring into being, removed from representing it. We care little if we sit in the seats, we have plenty of other work to do, we simply wish to ensure this foolishness ends. Some will say that I am losing my mind, how could Imperiate Keorin and Senator Laedha possibly know this would drive off Lord Phaestus? Why that's simple, the dozens of times over the years I told them bringing Occultism and Chaos to Cyrene would be the redline that forced Him to leave. So what did they do? They choose the one class, the ONLY class that purports to use Chaos, for the Imperiate to try and use. Of all the classes, this one class she was warned about just happened to be the only one she could choose? Give me a break. Let's skip the fact she lied about having Senate support for it, she had her staunch ally only, or that she was teaming with the traitor she's been trying to absolve of guilt for decades rather than teaming with some of her fellow citizens.
Was my departure handled well? Certainly not calmly! Was it my best day? Definitely not, do I regret SOME of it? Perhaps. Would I do most of it again? Yes. I am far from perfect, but no matter how hard the supporters of the Imperiate try to say otherwise, I did not cause this schism, she did.
Keorin and Laedha did what they did with full knowledge of the consequences, losing a God they felt didn't do enough of their bidding for them as Patron. A God who has supported Cyrene since its founding, and sacrificed much of His time, patience, and effort dealing with its monotonous bureaucracy to see it flourish, including building its new font, and revealing the spectral warriors that ride the wyrms. I know they will deny this, for every second word that comes from their lips is a half truth or a falsehood. I ask you all though, what ulterior motive would the follower of another God have, to drive away her city's Patron? Hashan hinted at it a couple of times, I thought it was propaganda, but even a broken clock is right twice a day!
Funny isn't it, Gods caused other cities to lose their dedicated citizens for the security of the few, in Cyrene? It was the selfishness of one person, and her loyal supporter.
To Senators Jiah, Liena, and Perl, your situation and predicament are regrettable, for no matter what you do, you will have displeased many. I wish you the best in whatever follows, and believe strongly that you are what the city needs right now.
With that being said, much as it is not His, Cyrene is not my problem at the moment. Stop wasting my time by blaming me for your own failures.
I choose to stand for something, rather than fall for anything.
