"The mind may be made stronger through the elimination of conscience."
-- one of the Seven Truths of Evil
Targossas,
A little over a decade ago, we fought a bloody war with Mhaldor.
A war we lost, a war that left us weakened in mind, body, and spirit. A
war that brought a monument to Evil planted at the Silverbright Square
to remind us of our failings.
This monument was meant to teach us the ways of Evil. It would effect an
intonation of His supposed Truths throughout the city every so often.
One of them spoke of elimination of conscience by inflicting pain on
others, be it those who would stand in opposition to His realm, or those
who would keep their distance, and even those who walk the same path.
Although we had lost, it did not necessarily mean for us to take Evil's
teachings to heart. Yes, it was painful to walk through the rubble that
our home had become. Yes, it was painful to hear those words forced into
our ears. But no, we were never meant to let it take seat in our hearts!
But alas! Targossas did not just lose the war in martial prowess then,
it has truly lost NOW in its citizens suppressing their conscience and
losing the will to acknowledge the true enemies of Creation.
The Dawnlord has ordered a bounty on a lone man who has done nothing but
fight enemies of Creation, just as his Lord does, far removed from the
comforts of 'home.' The Dawnlord has declared enemies of those who have
done nothing to harm Creation but actively seek to defend it. The
Dawnlord orders and Targossian thralls comply without thought, for that
is what you get once all conscience has been suppressed.
I never thought I'd ever say this, but Proficy is right. Targossas
really is in bed with Mhaldor at some level. The lessons in tyranny are
palpable now.
To those who still remain with the capacity for rational thought in the
city, I beseech you exercise your right as sentient beings to look past
the thirst for blood. Look past the red fog clouding your judgement, and
make the call yourself on who is or isn't your enemy.
This will be a struggle but we should try not to let Targossas become
the next Mhaldor.
Love,
Ada
