My line of thinking.

Apollodorus,

The event in question is open to interpretation. They willingly used
their skills to heal their guild tutor. One could say that because of
their willingness to destroy their groves, rather than allow Nature's
course to occur (death), they themselves forfeited their groves, even if
on a subconscious level. This would mean that Nature itself did not give
them the proverbial 'boot', but rather that they caused their own
separation from Nature.

If there is one thing I've learned about Nature, it's that no matter how
much one tries NOT to be a part of it, they always will be. Perhaps
think about that statement for a time, and you'll begin to see my line
of thinking.
