Indulgence over Abstinence

Dearest Goldberry,

In the not so distant past you announced that any Sinners which failed
to abstain from their sins would be exorcised. Please pardon my delayed
response, as I have only just now stopped laughing long enough to
effectively communicate with my scribe. You amuse me greatly, I dare say
you learned a great deal during your time as a Jester. You see, dear
Goldberry, we who walk the path of Sin understand that abstinence leads
to compulsion. It is compulsion which is to be avoided, rather than
indulgence. People often mistake compulsion for indulgence, but there is
a world of difference between the two. A compulsion is never created by
indulging, but by not being able to indulge. By making something taboo,
it only serves to intensify the desire. Indulgence implies choice,
whereas compulsion indicates a lack of choice. When a person does not
have a proper release for their desires, those desires rapidly build up
and become compulsions.

Just as my protege, Amunet, stated in a recent post regarding the
horrific effects of ridding the realms of Chaos, the effects of removing
Sin (if indeed that is even possible) would be very much the same. In
fact, you are a living example of Sinful influences and indulgences,
Goldberry. You display Wrathful and Dominating intentions when you
declare the downfall of those who do not adhere to the "True Light", and
you do so with an appetite befitting a Glutton, not to mention a Lustful
zeal as well. In your Avarice inspired pursuit of wiping out "Evil", you
feed your Pride at bit more with each post you make to the public.
Possibly even ispiring a bit of Envy in those who wish they could speak
out so fanatically.

Tut, tut, you pretty little Sinner.

You held your tongue for so many years, denying yourself the indulgence
of speaking your mind, and now it has become a compulsive second nature
to you. You poor darling, you would have a much more relaxed way of life
if you would simply admit that you too are not above the influence of
Sin. Continue to indulge in your desires, sweet Goldberry. I'm having a
ball of a time watching you become a poster child for every last Sinful
influence which my Queen admires.

Sinfully yours,
Dr. Tekla Aristata Yuy D'Stellis
