I watch you
Each guarding his or her own view

Neither of you willing to admit your flaws
Only following the strictest of laws
I stand my ground
mutually bound

I defend both of you
from the other
yet, also, keeping you from yourself
I feel like a mother
blocking blows from myself
what can I do?

When I see all of the flaws
yet I cannot hold to any cause
that hide myself from the truth
or like-wise hide the truth from myself

at times I feel like I want to open your eyes
to show to you, all of your lies
That all may not be as you believe
each of the stories you weave
I want to tear apart
your views are quite smart

yet they hold you bound to be closed
to other's opened thoughts
