Rivers Untrue

We denied our deepest thirst,
We sipped a wine of fleeting worth.
Thinking chalice would hold our due,
Yet stagnant, not like rivers true.
The fishers left the streams to rest,
Eagles soared - and feast was blessed.
To deserve is to earn whats due,
That is what we held untrue.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Ero, in the year 956 AF.
