The Wrong Was Done

Forget, forget, the easy way
Put the pain behind and away
Look to your comfort, go astray
year after year, day after day

It's only normal, you suppose
To shrink away from song and prose
When disharmony threatens tone
Silence instead of noise is chose

But should you a being measure
By the choices they do treasure
By weighing their strain and leisure
By their pains against their pleasures

Then do remember, remember
Times your voice you did surrender
When t'was silence that you tendered
When t'was fear that ruled your centre

From whence, then, did you courage call?
When webs of fury did enthrall
Did you rise up, or did you fall?
Judge not, lest you be judged by all

Cast not stones within glass houses
Condemn not folk by darkest hours
None are proof against such powers
Rage and fear and darkness devours

The essence, then, is going on
Letting not evil grow from wrong
The truth is that the wrong was done
But wisdom springs from what is gone

Take heart in futures, grain by grain
Built from a past of joys and pains
In lessons learned from the refrain
And wrongs that shan't be done again

First right the wrongs that you carry
Step forward now and not tarry
Courage with your heart be married
Justice be your luminary

So remember, do not forget
The songs you would in fear neglect
The words you would in fury let
Be you in peace and wisdom met

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Miraman, in the year 954 AF.
