The Game

I roll the dice to see who wins
If love begins or friendship ends
They tumble along and land in place
The eyes of the snake shown on their face

Heavy with loss, my heart sinks
How many to forget, how many drinks
Dealer hands me the dice with a grin
Asks me if I would like to play again

I sigh aloud and take the dice
My heart not ready to pay the price
Looking down at the dice I see
The game was always rigged against me

Love for so long I have yearned
Why can't I be the prize to be earned?
So tired of playing, done with losing
Why can't I be the one you're choosing?

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Sarapin, in the year 929 AF.
