Rise, Sunset Raven

Written by: Honest Fanten Darke, Surreptitious Serpent
Date: Thursday, August 17th, 2023
Addressed to: Ambassador Fuere Aristata, the Ghost Writer

I hear your voice in the deep of night
sharp pain in my chest, familiar weakness
in defiance of what we both called home

Countless hours together wrapped in laughter
the joy of kindred spirits, companionship
our accomplishments shared in celebration

I miss your smile, your shining heart
my memories of us mired in crimson fog
do you despise me now, all illusions torn

Wherever your soul rests, dear friend
I hope, despite faith, that you are at peace
whether in servitude or the freedom you deserve.

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Chronos, in the year 924 AF.
