Shipwrecked

Shipwrecked

Stranded upon Eternity Isle, I persist indefinitely.
I revel in the pleasure of my favorite company- Me.
I dig my hooves into the sand and ponder each tide and wave.
This stubborn tree supporting me, still denies me the fruit I crave.

I salvaged up the ruins of the wreck that left me here,
A raft of distant memories, shrine to both my hope and my despair.
Through this rum bottle spyglass my imagination never fails,
Transforming the horizon, clouds shifting into billowed sails.

"Praise the gods, you found me here. Please may I come aboard?"
"There's no one about to hear you, sir. Stop wasting all your words."
I thank the gull who answered me, and give a nod to the crabs and shells,
For helping maintain my sanity- at least I'm not talking to myself.

The clouds forever mock me, gliding by upon the wind.
The sea waves and welcomes me, 'Please, stranger, do come in.'
I always accept her invitation, but the sky turns blue to gray.
After a dance she graciously returns me to where I stay.

Eternity Isle! The Great Escape.
The Vacation without End!
There is no cost, charge, or fee:
You're already there, my friend.

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Valnuary, in the year 838 AF.
